Bryon Bay 2

The tropics are great for weather and vegetation plus huge variety of coloured birds but there is downside .

The other morning we had the downstair floor covered with thousands of white small worms - your ma did not see and walked over in bare feet thinking rice . It took 2 hours to clear and we have no idea why - it appears an animal must have laid eggs overnight as we do not close window.

Plus we have 3 crows who nearly fight us for food as we eat on patio.

There has been 5 snake bite episodes in local paper non fatal. We can hear a hissing snake on balcony so maybe my medical emergency kit will be useful !

The tropical storms have ceased so now back to 90 degrees - we stick to sittng under trees on seafront and take our own chairs etc although we eat out.

It is really a backpackers paradise with thousands literally plus a few old codgers from UK who let hair grow and look like moses with flowing hair and beards .

A small group of UK expats meet at Railway Pub we frequent. for most a nose or ear ring and tattoo are de rigeur and you Ma says i am jealous as i feel uncomfortable although they are very quiet.

We have German neighbours from Munich - we met this morning as the electric blew - we are semi detached and had to find fuse box together.

I had a stroke of serendipity as my school friend Peter Gavaghan left Batley for Sydney as journalist in 1961 - i have found him and he is editor of Melbourne Paper in sport - so i will email.

We both appeared in Batley News when aged 13 riding along Bradford Road when we saw a flying saucer ,which created quite a stir in Batley - we were even accused of being drunk at that age.

Hope Phil had a happy birthday.

Ma reading Hello in AC car across road before we go for drink.

Angela let me know about Israel and Phil Goring - your ma is waiting for some news.
